Landing page optimization & SEO

Last week one of my group members mentioned in a discussion board how she changed her ads to go directly to her product page.  I thought that was good advice, but did I do anything about it?  Of course not!  Well, this week I learned exactly why I should change what I’m doing – again.
First off, when a customer searches for a product, they don’t want to have to search your site to see what they want.  They want it to come up first click.  They should not have to navigate your site to find it.  Although it’s pretty straight forward, I guess I had a thought of why.  In days where so many people are using their smartphones for searching the internet, the thought of another click and more data is pretty important.  You need to have the product right there for the customer to click and buy.  Allow them to get it done super quick and be on their way.
Another reason I need to change is for search engine optimization.  I had no idea that naming a photo could change where I am on the list of relevant websites on Google!  There are so many little teeny tiny items that could affect organic searching that it’s almost not a bother.  One just needs to know what to do.  Things like adding enough keywords on each page and adding a header and title just don’t seem to jump out to me as bringing me to the top of the charts, but not doing these simple things could result in epic failure.
